Remembrance at Airplay RAF Wyton

Denise Barr, Airplay Station Youth Worker at RAF Wyton, recently told us about this touching remembrance tribute:

‘This year our youth members have been busy making poppies out of recycled materials.
All members joined in, including Ben club. They really enjoyed this session and were happy to take some poppies home with them too. We have displayed the poppies on a net outside the youth club.

This soldier was painted by some of our members a few years ago, but we have carried out some maintenance to ensure it was looking its best for Remembrance Day.

As this was really appreciated by station at the time, we thought it would be a lovely idea to Paint another image on the wall facing the RAF Station, so that all personnel leaving station would be able to see the image and reflect.

The image was drawn on the wall by me and then Kassi painted it – I think you will agree she has done an amazing job. Some of our members helped to paint the poppies on the wall and also added purple poppies to represent the animals lost in conflict too.’

Little Poppy

Little Poppy given to me
Help us keep the UK safe and free
I’ll wear a little poppy as red as can be
To remember those who fought for me.

This is our new image 2022
We will remember them.
