Stacy’s Story

“I first moved into YMCA three and a half years ago, as I had to move out of my sisters due to overcrowding. Even though I was sceptical about moving into YMCA after hearing from other people, my initial feelings changed after arriving and moving in. Sam my first Engagement Officer was lovely, she couldn’t do enough for me. She helped me do everything.

During my time at YMCA, I completed qualifications at WS training. Then after that I got a job working there doing a business admin qualification. After 3 months I decided to go to Suffolk College to study Applied Science and Psychology. I was a year into this course and had completed half my exams when I found out I was pregnant with my son Isaiah.

As part of the parent and child residents I attended the parent and child drop in sessions with Isaiah and we had fun doing all the activities we participated in.

We finally got our own home in August, which was a long and hectic week! However we settled in quickly and now have a lovely home.

I don’t think without having the help from YMCA I did, that I would have been so comfortable and able to cope with living on my own. I thank everyone at YMCA for their help over the last three and a half years, especially my Engagement Officer’s.”
