YMCA Trinity Group calls on community to give them their vote ahead of prestigious national youth awards ceremony
YMCA Trinity Group is asking local people for their backing ahead of a prestigious national youth awards event this autumn.
The local youth charity, which has operated in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk since 1852, has been shortlisted as YMCA of the Year in the Youth Matters Awards 2018.
It was nominated for YMCA of the Year because it has been an exceptional year for the charity, delivering numerous successful campaigns and events. Winning the category depends upon YMCA Trinity Group earning the most online votes from the public.
The organisation is also up for four additional awards:
- Young Leader of the Year for team member Yvonne Winterborn;
- The Diversity Award for the YMCA Youth project;
- Best Project – Training & Education for its Menu of Services designed to support local schools;
- Best Project – Accommodation for the Positive Behaviour project: an outreach campaign targeting young people involved in or at risk of antisocial behaviour.
Youth Matters is YMCA’s national awards programme where each award is decided based partly on public votes. The online vote opened on 8 August and runs until midnight on 22 August.
Votes cast by the public will be combined with the judges’ choices and the three finalists will be announced on 24 August. All the finalists will attend a ceremony hosted by TV presenter Miquita Oliver in central London.
Jonathan Martin, CEO of YMCA Trinity Group, said: “We are overjoyed and excited to be nominated for so many significant awards and to have reached this stage of the process.
“We hope everyone in the local community will vote for us. Making it through to the final judging panel would be a huge reward to the team, whose passion and commitment are the driving force behind our success.”
Youth Matters celebrates the outstanding skills and achievements of young people from across the country. It also recognises the vital work that YMCAs deliver every day to help transform the lives of young people and give them a brighter future.
The YMCA of the Year Award recognises a YMCA that has delivered in the past 12 months an innovative and inspiring local project, programme or scheme, which has created a tangible and positive impact on young people and the wider community.
