YMCA Prom Night

Due to some of our young people and their circumstances while being at school,  meant they were unable to celebrate completing their exams with friends. At our CYPS (Children and Young People’s Services) housing we believe that every young person should have this opportunity and chance to have a prom and celebrate their hard work.

So we decided to have a YMCA Prom Night. During planning we found out that some other older residents had also missed this opportunity, so decided to open it up to everyone!  We had residents from; CYPS, Gibson Lodge, Parent and Child and HRS (Housing Related Support).

The night was a huge success. We danced, we drank (mocktails!!) and we ate. Everyone looked fantastic whether it was in a dress, suit or casual clothes, we gave the option for residents to dress up as we know not everyone would like too. The night was more about all coming to together and being comfortable.

Lindsey Bartlett, Senior Accommodation Project Worker mentioned ” It was nice to see all the residents coming together and having a good night. Here at YMCA we believe that every young person who lives with us should be able to have the same experiences and opportunity’s as any other young person and things like prom night show it is possible.”

Below are some pictures from the lovely night and its great to see everyone having loads of fun!!
