We visited YMCA Thames Gateway for the latest Leadership Roadshow

This week our Bridie Carson (Head of Housing) & Lucy Watling (Quality & Development Manager) attended the latest YMCA Leadership Roadshow by visiting YMCA Thames Gateway.

Along with delegates from YMCA Dulverton Group & YMCA Fairthorn the team from Thames Gateway hosted an inspiring tour of their branches in Romford, Dartford & Thamesmead. The picture below is from the lunch visit to ‘The Y on the Lake’ a brand new café which sits alongside a childcare nursery and pending re-vamped kayak and boat hire offer.

Brian, Accommodation Executive, shared how their Accommodation services are continually improving the support service to residents and the physical accommodation. The group visited Romford’s site which has new modular accommodation and heard first hand how residents valued this housing solution in an expensive London commuter area.

The CEO lead session encouraged reflection on what particular qualities the leaders as individuals brought to their ‘tribe’, discussion on Zenger Folkman’s leadership tent model and tasks on how the group as a cohort and individuals were going to carry on developing.

Seeing how YMCAs impact communities all over England has been a fantastic, thought provoking opportunity for Bridie and Lucy. The next Leadership Roadshow has begun with two more Trinity Group Leaders with another cohort planned for later in 2022.
