UASC cooking session with the Suffolk refugee service
MCA UASC provision teamed up with the Suffolk refugee service to hold a cooking session with residents from Afghanistan.
The session was delivered by a volunteer from the Suffolk refugee service called Shakiba, Shakiba taught the residents to make two traditional dishes, one savoury and one sweet dish. This was a virtual meeting and the residents followed the steps with guidance from Shakiba. The residents all engaged well and were very appreciative of the support. They all really enjoyed the food and stated that it reminded them of being back home as their mothers used to cook them the same dishes. All of the residents have also stated that they feel confident to cook these dishes independently now!
YMCA and the residents that attended would like to thank Sarah and Shakiba for putting this cooking session together, we are truly grateful and look forward to the next session.
