New YMCA Trinity Group Childcare setting opens in Ipswich

Parents invited to Stay and Play session on 16 June

YMCA Trinity Group’s newest childcare setting, YMCA Childcare Providence located on Wellington Street in Ipswich, is now open and caring for children aged 0-12 years old. Parents are invited to visit with their child or children for a Stay and Play session 10am – 1pm on Saturday 16 June.

The facility is situated in YMCA Trinity Group’s main building in Ipswich which also acts as a community hub for a number of clubs and groups; this allows families to take advantage of a range of activities as well as using the childcare setting.

Madelyn Carson (2 years old) thoroughly enjoys attending YMCA Childcare Providence. Mum Leah Cooper commented: “Myself and Madelyn are very happy with her nursery experience. She’s settled in very quickly with no issues whatsoever. This has been greatly helped by not only having fantastic facilities but the staff being very friendly and helpful. Madelyn very much looks forward to the days she attends!”

Abbie Smith, manager of YMCA Childcare Providence said: “It’s very exciting to have opened our doors, and we have already seen a lot of interest from parents. Whether children are with us full time or attend a couple of sessions a week, we focus on helping them to grow in confidence and to embrace appropriate learning opportunities.

“The Stay and Play session will give parents and children the chance to look around the setting, talk to the staff and take part in some fun activities.”

YMCA Childcare Providence is the fourth YMCA Childcare facility in Suffolk. There are already two settings in Lowestoft and one recently opened in Grundisburgh.

Open Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 6.00pm, YMCA Childcare Providence has three spacious rooms, an outside area and access to YMCA’s sports hall.

Eligible children can benefit from a number of government schemes giving up to 30 hours a week of free childcare, and childcare staff can explain the application processes. There is a range of sessions available with lunch or tea being provided if required.

As children approach school age, YMCA aims to provide children with the best start to their education, and in addition to after school care for children up to 12, the setting can provide care for children up to age eight during the school holidays. Bookings are now being taken for the summer.

The setting follows the Early Years foundation stage curriculum, keeping parents up to date via digital learning journeys. An online login enables parents to view regularly updated reports and photographs of their child.

Staff at YMCA Childcare Providence also run a number of support programmes for families, helping to ease the transition to formal education for both children and their parents. The Transition Programme helps the family understand how their child might be feeling about moving on to primary school and provides some guidance and ideas as to how any challenges might be addressed.

There is no need to book for the Stay and Play session but to find out more or to arrange a visit to YMCA Childcare Providence, parents should contact Abbie Smith on 01473 295258 or email [email protected].
