YMCA Trinity Group suggests 24 ways to make a difference this advent.
Advent calendars might be getting more and more elaborate and more and more expensive but YMCA Trinity Group has the perfect reminder of the true spirit of Christmas with a list of things you can do to make this year’s countdown really count.
Whether fundraising ideas or just a random act of kindness the list below can help you make a difference to a young person in need this Christmas.
- Knit a hat for a homeless person
- Hold a Christmas bake sale
- Donate old coats, jumpers, hats and scarves
- Hold a Christmas raffle for work colleagues or friends
- Write a Christmas card for a YMCA resident and let them know you’re thinking of them
- Get everyone you know to help you collect a mile of pennies for mental health
- Buy a hot drink for a homeless person.
- Become an appropriate adult volunteer for young people in police custody
- Sponsor a child to attend the pantomime – £60 will buy two children and their guardians a ticket to see Snow White at the Cresset, an ice-cream and a gift from Santa
- Collect Christmas food for YMCA residents
