Keep up the great work, Dan
We would like to highlight the great work that our new Access to Employment/Education worker, Dan Goddard, has done so far.
He has been working with over 30 residents to help them to actively look and apply for work. Among the highlights, Dan has helped four people into courses within the NHS, counselling and construction. He has also supported five others to get into meaningful employment with the likes of Cambridge United and Addenbrookes hospital.
This is an amazing achievement considering some people were very hard to reach and connect with initially. A few have lived at Queen Anne House for over a year now but were struggling to find work or an educational course so they became very disheartened. However, Dan has helped to restore their confidence and belief within themselves. There are also some residents who have never worked at all due to their mental health but with the support now available, they are looking at volunteering/ part time roles and have actively completed a CV.
Dan has made a wonderful impact in such a small space of time and has already demonstrated the values of YMCA Trinity by supporting young people to realise their potential and hopefully help them on their way to fulfilling lives. He has also built links with local business such as Nana Mexico in Cambridge who have offered to support our young people with catering experience and allowed our residents to use their kitchens.
Dan’s role was funded thanks to the donations made from last year’s Sleep Easy. It’s great to see the money raised already having a positive impact on young people.
