We have an opportunity to apply for Relief work as an Accommodation Night Worker on a sessional basis.

A ‘rewarding role’ working with, and supporting young people as they progress on their journey through YMCA.

Job Role

 

Relief Accommodation Workers assist in the running of our Accommodation Project.

Supporting the Accommodation Team and young people living at Batt House in Bury St Edmunds, our relief workers pick up shift work when available.

Our Accommodation workers ensure a high level of working practice, maintaining high standards of supervision and support to create a warm caring and homely atmosphere.

Various shifts are available, on an as and when required basis, please indicate your preferred availability on application.

Many of our relief workers progress in their careers, applying for full and part time contracted roles when opportunities arise. Contact us if you would like to know more.

 

Skills and Experience

 

In summary, successful applicants will have the following qualities:

 

  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver good face to face customer care
  • A good understanding of confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a non-judgemental and non-discriminatory way
  • Ability to interact with young people in a positive and confident manner
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Experience using computers
  • Sunny disposition
  • Be able to work as part of a team
