Queensgate Shopping Centre
YMCA’s Christmas wrapping service in Queensgate Shopping Centre raises almost £6,000 to support homeless young people in Peterborough.
YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough is pleased to announce that its Christmas gift wrapping service in Queensgate Shopping Centre throughout December raised a total of £5,920.32. The money raised will go towards supporting young people in Peterborough who, having been homeless, are currently residents in the charity’s accommodation.
The charity would like to thank everyone who used the service throughout December. The funds raised are vital to helping support some of the most vulnerable people in the local community.
Jonathan Martin, CEO at YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough commented: “The shoppers at Queensgate have been so generous over the festive season. Young people can struggle to cope when they became homeless through no fault of their own and these amazing donations mean that we are able to support them to get back on their feet and into independent housing. Thank you to everyone who contributed during December.”
He continued: “While this amazing donation will help, there are still many young people out there who are, or will soon become homeless. Whatever the cause, the result is the same – they become homeless and the YMCA aims to be there for anyone who needs our support.”
YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough is only able to provide this kind of ongoing support thanks to the generous support of local people. The charity would also like to thank all volunteers including employees from Norwich & Peterborough Building Society, Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough City Council Children’s Service, BGL Group, Swinton Insurance, Anglian Water, as well as Miss Catwalk Perfect UK, Miss Galaxy Rutland, Peterborough Royals, Peterborough Rugby Club and Newborough Women’s Institute.
If you are able to support the YMCA’s vital work within our community either by making a donation or by becoming a volunteer please contact the fundraising team on 01733 373188.
