Congratulations to our resident Ahmed on securing university place
Ahmed Karda, one of our residents in Ipswich since April 2019, has just moved out after securing a place at University.
Michaela Williams, Ahmed’s Accommodation Project Worker, explains, “During his time at YMCA, Ahmed engaged with the support really well and has also studied really hard for his educational courses in order to achieve his grades.
He has since moved out into his own flat this month and has been offered a place at University in the upcoming educational year. We are all extremely proud of Ahmed and want to wish him all the best for the future.”
Ahmed has always wanted to be a pharmacist since being a young child but has had to work hard to make his dream reality, “I didn’t have access to any primary education when I was young. When I moved to the UK in 2017 I couldn’t speak any English. I went to Suffolk New College and studied ESOL Entry Level 3.
After that, I went on to study Level 1 Health and Social Care and then Level 2 Forensic Science. I am now completing Level 3 Higher Education Access to Science and I’m doing really great at it.
In January, I applied for five universities and got an invite to two interviews. I was pleased to receive an offer from the University of East Anglia, my first choice university.
Many people said to me this is going to be hard for you but I wasn’t listening to any negative comments. I’ve also had support from a lot of people too.
I’m so happy to share this with you. Anyone can do anything they want by working hard and never giving up. We can all achieve our goals.”
We are all proud of you Ahmed and wish you well in your future endeavours!
